The cancers with longest treatment waiting times

Please follow this BBC website link  which is  itself based on research conducted by Cancer Research UK. It describes the disparities between waiting times (defined by the 62 day target) for different cancer types.

Many bowel and anal cancer patients will know that somehow “their” cancer doesn’t attract quite the same level of public interest as other cancers. In times of prolonged NHS under funding, public interest and awareness is important since it has a major influence, for example, on the level of funding that cancer charities are able to raise.

Cancer Research UK has also published information its latest updates and an analysis on NHS performance with respect to meeting the separate targets for all cancers :-

a) The Faster Diagnosis Standard – target met
b) 62 Day Referral to Treatment Standard – target missed
c) 31 Day Decision to Treat Standard – target missed
