Stop Press ….. Moving On Living Well – 2016!

Building on the success of the Moving On Living Well event in July last year, plans are afoot to repeat the exercise. Remember that there are 300 new bowel & anal cancer patients who start their treatment each year, it’s important that all patients be able to benefit from what has proven to be a rich and varied source of information and advice. Feedback from last year’s attendees lead us to believe that for many the whole day event was a little on the long side and also that travel distance was, for some, an issue. So rather than have a single all-day event it has been decided to host shorter, more intimate events, repeated at the following three locations and times:-

a) 21st April at the Audrey Emerton Building, from 9.00 to 12.00
b) 10th May at the Euan Keat Education Centre, Princess Royal Hospital, from 9.00 to 12.30
c) 5th July at the new Macmillan Horizon Centre from 1.30 to 4.30 in the afternoon.

This will give delegates greater choices on location and the time of day they would like to attend. We shall be covering the same major topics as last year and are very fortunate that the same speakers, or their close colleagues, have agreed to present their subjects.
Another feature of last year’s event that met with widespread approval was the availability of C-Side patients and carers who provided the sort of help and advice that could only come from those who “have been there”. We are again calling for volunteers from C-Side to step forward to take on these vital ambassadorial roles. Since one of the venues will be the brand-new Macmillan Horizon Centre volunteers will need to be registered with them, we are currently looking at how this will be expedited.

So, please send an email if you would like to volunteer and help make Moving On Living Well – 2016 a great success.
