Ever wondered what Cancer Research UK Science Labs do?

… or What Relay For Life is about?

Relay For Life Eastbourne 2017 is hosting an event to celebrate the launch of their 2017 event.
In the first two years, Eastbourne Relay (Licensed by Cancer Research UK) has raised over £70,000 and is hoping to achieve £100,000 by the end of this year.  There will be a chance for people to take a virtual tour of one of their science labs with an audio tutorial. You will need to book for the tour as numbers will be limited due to time constraints.
The event is to be held at the Saffrons Sports Club Compton Place Road
Eastbourne BN21 1EA
at 7.00 p.m. on Thursday 23 February 2017.  There will also be a quiz (£4 suggested donation), to include a light supper, and an explanation of where the money is spent in Sussex.
Louise Wardle Local Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research UK, said “Relay For Life Eastbourne is calling on teams to register now and lead their teams to fundraising success. Entry this year is free, and it is a fantastic way to work together with friends, colleagues, or families to help stamp out this disease.
Cancer Research UK is reliant on the generosity of volunteers such as the Relay For Life Eastbourne Committee and its registered teams and sponsors to be able to fund our life-saving research into over 200 types of cancer, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for supporting this inspirational family event”.
Janet Geering the volunteer Event Chair said “we welcome our returning teams this year, and also hope that many more teams will enter”. Relay For Life is the largest fundraiser for cancer research in the world, and CRUK’s collaborative working with other countries brings us one step further in fighting this disease.  There have been some encouraging break throughs in treatment.  Eastbourne Relay is proud to play a part of this.  If you have been effected by Cancer in anyway, and want to do something to create more survivors, please come along for a chat.  Janet can be contacted on 07983 672332.
